Request for Proposal – Identifying Regional Opportunities for Local Production
Request for Proposals for “Identifying Regional Opportunities for Local Production”
Request Date: April 1, 2018
Deadline: May 15, 2018, 12:00pm EST
The purpose of this Request for Proposals (RFP) is to solicit consultant services to research, write and deliver a detailed study and associated support strategy that identifies and assesses opportunities for Ontario based producer (farmer) business development.
The report and supporting strategy will highlight opportunities from the producer perspective, and will suggest strategies to help farmers identify potential opportunities to grow their business. Areas of inquiry will be identification of barriers and opportunities of: how farmers could increase revenue streams, engage in on farm value add or processing, access new markets (ie. World crops), take advantage of waste diversion for food products, and more. The assessment will include such areas of focus as: what is grown and under utilized, what could be incorporated into local processing, what assets (equipment) pose an opportunity or barrier to opportunity and why, required improvements to communications and B2B networking, regulatory or other such constructs, and in general, barriers to accessing markets with recommendations.
The information from this study will be relevant to stakeholders such as farmers and processors, organizations and companies who work in business support and development for farmers, and those involved in agri-food economic development. The development of the report will engage at least twenty (20) independent industry stakeholders. The report will focus on regional approaches so as to align with existing efforts in the business development space for farmers.
