Convention showcases ways to boost business in food and beverage sector

Ontario food and beverage makers looking to grow their business won’t want to miss the upcoming “Scaling Up to Grow Your Business” convention in Niagara Falls.

“We are really seeking to provide start-up and established food manufacturers opportunities to learn how to better manage their businesses,” says Ashley Honsberger, Executive Director of the Agri-food Management Institute (AMI).

“Our lineup of speakers and participatory sessions will provide a wide array of practical advice, training and experiences to help them be more successful.”

AMI has teamed up with Innovate Niagara and several other business’ and research-oriented organizations to present the conference at the ScotiaBank Centre on March 3, 2017.

John F.T. Scott, a food industry expert with decades of experience in the industry, including 22 years at the head of the Canadian Federation of Independent Grocers, will deliver a keynote presentation about ‘How to Prepare Your Business for Success.’  Dana McCauley, Executive Director of Food Starter will help wrap up the day with a plenary talk on how to successfully scale up your business using consumer trends and innovative ideas.

Another highlight of this year’s conference is the Mentorship Table Talk, at which participants can sign up to chat with experts about their challenges in logistics, marketing, financing, exporting and other business-related topics.

The convention includes a showcase of products from Ontario food and input supply companies, as well as business development resources from conference partners Business Development Canada (BDC), the Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce, the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and more.

A pre-conference seminar on March 2, 2017 is aimed at new business owners and managers who want to learn about food safety regulations and the basics of how to set up a strong program.

A bus tour on the same day will take participants to regional centres of innovation and excellence in food.
